Born: Sept.8, 1780 Died: Dec. 26, 1860
Born in St. Malo, the 'city of seafarers', a wealthy ship owner's son, open minded, fearless of heart, firm in faith , has come up with vast plans for the church of his time in the 19th century.
Depriving himself of the appealing life of expeditions that his father was offering him, and giving up th glory of a PRESTIGIOUS intellectual career in favor of his brother Felicite, he opted, at the end of the French Revolution, to become' God's flag bearer' for the sake of the church. His ambition was to rebuild the church and society, restore faith and attachment to the Holy See, and above all, become the apostle of youth by founding two teaching congregation - The Dayghters of Providence of St, Brieuc, and Brothers of Christian Instruction of Ploermel , also known as " La Mennais Brothers", (In the Philippines) . These two foundations were assigned an immense task ,that of' making Jesus Christ and his Gospel Known'.
Father de La Mennais is a model of service to others in humility, a missionary with enthusiastic zeal and brilliant courage.
